Sheikha Alia-led Ghantoot B shine in GRPC’s season opening Pink Polo Exhibition Match 2023
ABU DHABI: Sheikha Alia Al Maktoum led the Ghantoot “B” Polo Team to win the title of the “Pink Polo” Festival in its 14th edition, which was organized by the Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club at the Sultan Bin Zayed field, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Falah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Club, and with the support of the Abu Dhabi Council. Al-Riyadi, after defeating the Ghantoot “A” team in the charity exhibition match with a score of 5.5 points to 5 points, which is the match with which Ghantoot launched its current season.
The festive match was an even match, which began with the throwing of the starting ball by Sumaya Al Kaabi, a member of the Emirates Cancer Society and founder of the “Dose of Happiness” initiative, in the presence of Saeed bin Houfan Al Mansoori, Vice Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors, Khalid Saeed Al Marzooqi, Executive Director of the Club, and a number of personalities.
The festival’s activities were varied and began with the participation of the African Folklore Band, in addition to the area designated for children’s games, medical examinations provided by Burjeel Hospital and the Pink Caravan, a football match for the talents of Yas Academy and Future Academy, then the exhibition match for the talents of the Polo Stars of the Future presented by the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club. The festival witnessed the launching of pink balloons with the participation of children and their families, and Abu Dhabi Police musicians participated in playing the national anthem.
The festival witnessed a section of fashion shows presented by the Ali Bin Abdulaziz Investment Group, and at the end, a raffle was held for free tickets for the fans, for which the club allocated prizes and souvenirs, represented by the most beautiful outfit and a women’s hat.
At the end of the festival, the two teams were honored in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Hamed, Saeed bin Houfan Al Mansoori, Khalid Saeed Al Marzooqi, and Hamad Ahmed Al Hosani, CEO of Burjeel Holding Companies. The match referee was also honored and souvenir shields were exchanged.
